Way to North Lake

It's July and June has been the coldest on record along the Puget Sound. I head east toward Okanogan and the Colville Confederated Tribes where the sun is guaranteed. It's the weekend of the Colville pow wow and I wish I could stay longer but exploration and solitude calls. I travel into the Sawtooth Mountains of the North Cascades following the Twisp River. And on foot to North Lake. It's a long, steep, and beautiful walk across streams, granite avalanches, and dense woods. At the top, after miles of thick forest, the path opens into a world that looks like it is made out of colored glass. And I am the only human.
